The clients purchased the home after renting it for many summers. It was originally built in the late 18th century as a farm house, but unfortunately had many additions over the years.  The goal was to retain as much of the character and detail of the historic house, while accommodating the lifestyle of an active young family: large kitchen and family areas, plus central air-conditioning and a new pool.  The house was completely gutted, the frame straightened out and then entirely re-built, all within the confines of the local Historical Society and Building Department.
